FUNCTIONS OF THE CONSULAR SECTION OF THE EMBASSY:

- to provide assistance to Brazilian nationals

- to protect the interests of Brazilian nationals in transit, resident or domiciled in the area of its jurisdiction, to look after equitable and non-discriminatory treatment as well as full respect for their dignity and their rights and to offer emergency assistance should it be required

- to provide guidance in case of death abroad of a Brazilian citizen

- to register and issue birth, marriage and death certificates

- to issue passports

- to issue military draft certificates

- to carry out the electoral draft

- to issue consular identity cards

- to authenticate documents so that they are deemed valid in Brazil

- to issue certain types of certificates and notifications

- to process requests for entry visas for foreign nationals travelling to Brazil

THE CONSULAR SECTION OF THE EMBASSY CANNOT:

- interfere in the Czech authorities' sovereign decision to grant or to refuse foreign nationals permission to enter the Czech Republic

- be responsible for debts or expenses of any kind, including medical or hospital expenses, incurred by Brazilian nationals abroad.

- be financially responsible for the removal/transport of bodies of deceased Brazilian nationals.

- be responsible for contracting defense lawyers for Brazilian nationals, or representing them, in court cases.

-  get involved in personal, family, or any other matters of private law, such as commercial disputes, problems with landlords, etc.

- change data pertaining individual particulars as, for example, names.

- issue (original or copy) or revalidate Criminal Records Certificates, Identity Cards, Driving Licenses.

 



Tourist visa requirements

Please be aware that a tourist visa is not required for Czech citizens to enter Brazil. Nevertheless, if the trip is not on tourism purpose, the Consular Section must be consulted for specific information.

Holders of a tourist visa (if it is necessary, depending on the citizenship) and those who can travel to Brazil without a visa on a tourist purpose, are allowed to stay up to 90 days in Brazil, renewable for an equal period by the Federal Police, not extending a maximum stay of 180 days per year.

  • Tourism trip
  • Visit to relatives and/or friends
  • Scientists, professors or researchers attending cultural, technological or scientific conferences, seminars
  • Participation in artistic or amateur sport competitions, whenever no monetary prize or paid admission is involved

Tourist visa holders are not allowed to engage in any paid activity in Brazil.

Procedures

Submission to the Consular Service:

One visa application form, properly filled out (print front and back in one sheet) and duly signed (parents must sign application forms for those under 18 years old), together with the following documentation:

  • A passport (valid for at least 6 months prior to its expiration date, and with at least one blank page available for the visa stamp)
  • one recent 3 x 4 passport-type photo, either in color or black and white, front view, full face, with a light background (snapshots are not accepted)
  • a photocopy of a round trip ticket, or a signed letter by a travel agency with confirmed and paid round trip
  • as applicable (i.e., for participation in athletic or performing arts event or competition ), copy of letter by sponsors with detailed information on the event and conditions of attendance
  • as applicable, yellow fever vaccination certificate if it is the case
  • a person under 18 years of age not traveling with both parents or legal guardian(s) must provide a letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent(s) or guardian authorizing this Consulate to issue a visa

The requirements listed above should not, in any way, be considered all-inclusive. The Brazilian Consular Office processing the visa reserves the right to apply additional requirements when they are deemed necessary.

  • First entry into Brazil must be no later than 90 days after the visa is issued.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly.
  • Length of stay in Brazil

- first granted period: up to 90 days 

- extensions (once in Brazil): up to another 90 days, making up a maximum of six months in any twelve-month period.

  • At least 2 weeks before expiration of the first granted period, tourists may apply for a single extension of up to 90 additional days.
  • Paid or unpaid employment of tourists in Brazil is strictly prohibited.

An Embarkation/Desembarkation card, provided to all visitors by the Brazilian Immigration authorities (DPMAF), must be filled in and signed appropriately and submitted to authorities upon arrival and when leaving Brazil.
